If you have ever tattooed your wife or girlfriend then you know how nerve-racking it can be. The morning started out with my wife getting a tattoo on the back of her arm and ending up with her hating me by the time I was finished. That’s what husbands are for, putting their wives through pain and suffering. Liz sat like a stone and made it easy to shake off the anxiety of tattooing a loved one.

So yesterday there was a photo shoot at the shop for a tattoo magazine. Me being the absent-minded artist that I am, I misunderstood one of the owners when he said “bring your clients down for photos”. I thought I was supposed to bring some people to make tattoos on, but really I was supposed to call my clients to get their healed tattoos on film for the shop write-up, I really need to get my head checked. I scrambled on the phone to try and get someone there for some photos but my attempts were in vain, oh well. On the bright side it gave me a chance to tattoo my friend Brian who asked me about A YEAR ago for a tattoo. The tattoo I did on him made my day, I love compass roses. I mean really, who as a tattooer, does not enjoy tattooing compass roses, what a wonderful and symbolic tattoo. In the early age of sail, mariners navigated their way through uncharted waters and unknown perils armed only with the stars at night, a compass to point north and their own wits to guide them. The compass and the North Star were all that a good sailor needed to find his way in the world. A tattoo not only to help navigate the sea, but to make ones way through life.
Last night Norm came by my office last night and got a little zap on his face. What up with the Star of David West Coast style! Norm was in need of a little getaway down to Orange County for a little tat and I was glad to see him. Norm has a new shop in Hollywood and has a small group of talented artists tackin’ down there, artists like Dan Dringenberg, Louie Perez, Taku and Tattoo Tony. If you’re hanging out there you’re gonna see cameo visits from Tattooers like Bob Roberts and Baby Ray, and guest artist visits from Bert Krak, Jeff Whitehead and Jason Kundell. Anyways, I love Norm and his visit was welcomed with hugs.

Utah has some of the best powder to snow board in the world, I got to experience it first hand. I went with my Cousin, my good friend Mike, Mike’s Uncle Jay and a whole slue of their friends. After riding ALL DAY we hit the Jacuzzi before going out to eat, and I totally forgot about the big eagle I made on Mike’s back, so I took a photo and I hope you like it. Next time I’m gonna stay a little longer with my friend Roxanne, make some tattoos and snowboard my heart out.
I had a some spare time today and finished a little one-off liner that I had started. Punchy and Fast, like a boxer from the Bronx.
If you want to read more about it check out the detailed description on my EBAY STORE
If you have been following my blog(much appreciated) then you have definitely seen some of the work I’ve been doing on my friend Jake, his eyelid, chin, and other various places most of us don’t dare to tread. Well today was no different. Another face tat for the homie, leaving even less open skin for this tattoo junkie.
So it’s back to work for these arthritic ridden hands, and what better way to kick it off but with a huge portrait on my friends leg. Miss Lani Lee, the photographer, chose an elegant black and white vintage photo of her mother and I drew on the rest. I felt like an organic but somewhat floral border was in order, to add the proper frame for this gorgeous dame. Unfortunately we ran out of time and I will have to finish another day. I recommend you check out Lani Lee’s website and enjoy this talented young ladies work, if you have the time, her trigger finger captures a world that is most sublime.
There is nothing like cruisin’ around a car show on a sunday afternoon checkin’ out firme lowriders and talking shit with good friends, it’s like a little slice of heaven for this old lowrider lover. There were women dressed like cholitas straight from the 40′s, tough guys rappin’ about car and motorcycle building techniques that would bore most normal people into suicide, some of the most beautifully restored old ‘bombs’ that I have ever laid eyes upon, and to top it off, the infamous Jack Rudy and Baby Ray were there to entertain us with their stories of debauchery. “I didn’t even have to use my AK… Today was a good day!”
I just finished this little terror and thought I would share it with you. It is made from some trinkets I collected during my last travels. Every added extra on this sucker is from Thailand and it runs like it’s on ‘sick ‘em’. It is also for sale on my eBay store if your interested, I hope it goes to a good home.
I am so proud to be a part of this website. Two amazing tattooers got together and created something great, a website that sells proper flash and prints from extraordinary artists. OK OK so maybe I’m not up on the site yet, but I WILL be, I SWEAR IT!! Anyway, if you want the best flash and prints the world has to offer then you know where to find it. Here is what they have to say about themselves:
